SMUD Headquarters Rehabilitation
Sacramento, CA
The Sacramento Municipal Utilities District headquarters building is on the National Register of Historic Places and was finally rehabilitated after 60 years. The project involved new glazing, installation of sustainable mechanical and electrical systems, improvement to the open-office area and hazardous materials abatement. A new central core connects the building’s north and south wings and will showcase an open stairway to allow an easy connection between the floors. In addition to the building renovation, the project also included site and landscaping improvements of this 13-acre site. The project was designed to achieve LEED Gold certification.
